Le curcuma (ou racine jaune) est la racine de la plante Curcuma longa et est largement utilisé dans la médecine ayurvédique et chinoise. La couleur jaune provient de la curcumine, le principal composé actif du curcuma. La curcumine est un polyphénol aux propriétés antioxydantes.

Studies of curcuma have generally shown that it is well tolerated, even at high doses (up to 8,000 mg per day). However, doses of more than 6,000 milligrams per day may cause mild gastrointestinal symptoms, such as flatulence and loose or yellow stools.
